AMD RDNA (Radeon DNA) is a graphics processing architecture developed by AMD, a multinational semiconductor company. It is the successor to AMD’s previous graphics architecture, GCN (Graphics Core Next), and is used in AMD’s Radeon graphics cards.

RDNA was first introduced in July 2019 with the release of the AMD Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards. One of the key features of RDNA is its use of a 7nm manufacturing process, which allows for smaller and more efficient graphics processing units (GPUs). The architecture also includes a redesigned compute unit (CU) that is more efficient and performs better than the CUs in GCN architecture.

It has also been licensed for use in next-generation consoles, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The second iteration of RDNA, called RDNA 2, was released in October 2020 and includes further improvements in performance, power efficiency, and ray tracing capabilities. It is used in the latest AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, including the Radeon RX 6800 and Radeon RX 6900 XT.
