G20 is a group of 19 countries and Europe. It is an intergovernmental organization. This group of 20 major powers focuses on joint development and collaboration regarding various topics such as the global economy, financial stability, climate change, sustainable development, and much more.

The G20 2022 just took place in Indonesia (Bali). This year India got the G20 presidency and will be preparing for a year to make it happen. The Indian government has already started allocating the required resources and manpower to manage the event.

The G20 summit will include a lot of meetings covering different topics.

India is all set to become the voice of the global south. The countries which are not part of G20 will get a voice in the summit and their things will also be taken into consideration.

1. What is the purpose of the G20 Summit?

The purpose of the G20 is to provide a forum for the world’s 19 largest economies and the European Union to discuss a wide range of issues, including economic, financial, trade, energy, climate change, development, and health. The G20 has also become a forum for the world’s largest economies to coordinate their responses to global economic and financial crises. This year India has declared that India will become a voice for the global south, i.e, the Asian countries that are not part of this forum.

2. Who will host the G20 2023?

India. Today, on 02, December 2022 India accepted the position of G20 presidency for the year 2022-23. The Indian government has already signaled the meetings will take place throughout the country. Some of the meetings will be organized in the Kashmir region as well. Since the abrogation of section 370, a lot of work has been done in Jammu & Kashmir areas.

The meetup will give attendees a peak at the things the Indian government has focused on there. Obviously, it will help India make its Kashmir trance more effective and also will attract foreign investment. It’s not a topic of this fact sheet today.
