In 2019, scientists captured the image of a real black hole. We will talk about that, later. In this post, we’ll discuss the region of spacetime where gravity is so strong that even electromagnetic radiation can’t pass through it. Let’s get started. You can join this conversation in the

What is a Black Hole?

Albert Einstein first predicted the existence of black holes in his general theory of relativity in 1915-16, where he showed that the gravity can affect the motion of light. A few months later, Karl Schwarzschild found a solution to the Einstein field equations and proved that the black holes indeed exist.

Who coined the term "Black holes"?

Einstein predicted the existence of the strongest spacetime region in his general theory of relativity in 1916, but, the term, “black holes” was actually coined by an American astronomer John Wheeler in 1967.
The theatrical physicist was best known for his contribution to the invention of the theory of nuclear fission. The scientist died in 2008 because of pneumonia.

Can we see the black holes?

The quick answer is no, you can’t see them with your bare eyes. But, space telescopes can do. Actually, the black holes are so black no lights can pass through them.
But, special space telescopes with special tools can help to find the black holes. These special telescopes examine how the stars close to the black holes behave differently than other stars.
So, if you’re not satisfied with the black hole image captured in 2019 please go and buy or develop a high-quality space telescope capable of finding the black holes.
A black hole and its shadow have been captured in an image for the first time, a historic feat by an international network of radio telescopes called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT).

What is the size of a Black Hole?

Blackhole comes in small and large sizes. From small (a size of an atom) to large (20 times more mass than a sun). A black hole can be of the size of a small atom holding the matter of the size of a mountain.
There can be a large number of black holes present in a galaxy. You can call those largest black holes the supermassives. And, you can guess how much mass of matter they can hold. They are also called as “Stellars”.

How do they get formed?

The smallest black holes were got formed with the formation of an universe. The large size black holes forms when a massive star collapses or falls into itself. When this happens, it causes a supernova. A supernova is an exploding star.
