WhatsApp to End Support for 49 Smartphone Models on December 31, 2022
WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app, has announced that it will stop providing updates and eventually stop functioning on these devices from a variety of manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung.
While most of these devices are older models that are likely only used by a small number of individuals, it’s important to be aware of this change if you are one of the affected users.
What Does This Mean for Affected Users?
If your smartphone is on the list of unsupported models, you will no longer receive updates from WhatsApp, including new features and security patches. This means that your experience with the app may become outdated and potentially less secure over time. Eventually, the service will cease to function altogether on these devices.
While this may be inconvenient for those affected, it’s important to keep in mind that most smartphone users will not be affected by this change. The majority of the devices on the list are older models that are likely only used by a small number of people.
